A PhD scientist by training, Jasmine has more than 18 years of patent law practice experience covering a wide range of technologies, including biotech, pharmaceutical, chemical processing, medical devices, semiconductor processing, biomedical life sciences, and various nanotechnologies. She is engaging, organized, and motivated, and she thrives on handling inventive technologies. Her legal experience includes working in a patent specialty law firm in Palo Alto, California, involving client counseling for business start-ups, complex patent portfolio management for large companies, patent strategy for new drug leads and development pipelines, budgeting and prioritizing technology innovations, IP due diligence support, non-infringement and invalidity opinion practice, M&A, pre-litigation investigation, and related patent issues in NDA, ANDA, and IND for new drug applications submitted to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Jasmine is fluent in Mandarin Chinese. She is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and admitted to practice law in California. Jasmine is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA). She earned a J.D. from the University of San Francisco Law School and obtained a special Certificate (with Honors) in Intellectual Property and Technology Law. Jasmine has a Ph.D. in Microbiology from Cornell University and a B.S. in Plant Pathology and Entomology from National Taiwan University. She was a judicial extern at San Mateo County Superior Court. Jasmine was a postdoctoral fellow in the Division of Immunology and Transplantation Biology, Department of Pediatrics, Stanford University Medical Center where she was awarded an American Society of Transplant Physicians-SangStat Fellowship.

Ya-Fen (Jasmine) Chen provides high quality professional legal services to companies, academic institutions and investment groups. Jasmine's legal practice focuses on all areas of intellectual property (IP) counseling, including U.S. and international patent prosecution, strategic patent portfolio management and monetization, pre-litigation due diligence, investment and merger and acquisition (M&A) due diligence, technology transfer, business alliance, patent in-licensing and out-licensing, freedom to operate analysis, and FDA-related IP issues. Her law office also provides part-time or virtual in-house counsel services. Jasmine applies business sense and cost-effectiveness in counseling her clients on IP legal matters. As a Juris Doctor candidate at the University of California, Davis School of Law and a cum laude graduate in Business Management from Arizona State University, Mr. Lin has developed a robust skill set that spans legal research, patent application processes, and cross-border advisory services. His hands-on experience as both a clerk and an apprentice lawyer, coupled with his previous roles in investment management and international sales, provides him with a unique perspective on the legal challenges faced by our global clients. Fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English, Mr. Lin is well-equipped to bridge cultural and legal divides, delivering tailored legal solutions with precision and insight.
